Jean Bilquin (1938) lives and works in Gent (Drongen, Belgium)
Studied graphics at the Royal academie of fine arts in Gent. From 1957 untill 1967, he was active in the publicity sector as a draughtsman, designer and Art director.He is working as a independent artist since 1967 ( paintings, drawings, etchings, graphics and sculpture. Teached graphic art from 1975 to 1980 at RHOK (State Centre for Higher Art Education in Brussels) and has been teaching at the higher department for painting of the Royal Academy for Fine Arts in Gent since 1979.
Honours and awards : 1968 laureate of the award for painting of the Province of East Flanders; Special mention in "jonge Belgische schilderkunst : 1969-'72; 1974 Special mention in the International Diano Marino Contest (Italy); 1981-1987 Biennial of Criticism....
